Junction 37

We had spoken to some locals who after learning we would be driving out of Skagway suggested we not spring for the White Pass Rail trip because the scenery on our planned route would be one and the same. Without early morning fog I am sure it would have been, so we missed some of the more dramatic views but the rest was pretty and we revisited the Alaska Highway, stopped again at Johnson's Crossing, and continued all the way to Junction 37 the start of the Cassiar Highway. We fueled up and got permission to park for the night in the large lot next to the station. Curiously an adjacent campground was completely empty. The ladies enjoyed a cup of soup at a cute cafe while Mike, Ted, and Rich started happy hour.

Mountain Shadow

Located about 50 miles south of Dease Lake in the middle of Iskut territory what a pleasant surprise. Clean, scenic, and modern, Mountain Shadow RV Park was a very pleasant stopover. We even had a smattering of wifi. The road was good with only a few miles of gravel, and wound through the lonely wilderness of British Columbia.
