Palmer was really only a stop over on the way to Valdez. The campground was very pleasant the first day with warm sunshine. The second day was rainy and misty which meant laundry and haircuts for some and perhaps a few other chores getting addressed. Adjacent to the visitor center was a wonderful garden which again highlighted the flowers of Alaska - their beautiful vibrant colors.

We are UCONN women's basketball fans and one of the star players from the 2004 championship season, Jessica Moore, calls Palmer home. When questioned, the locals could not recognize her name. I contribute that to CPTV not being available in Alaska.

While we were grilling dinner the first night and blindly chatting a huge moose strolled around the campground then stood only ten feet behind the trailer. My jumping up and rushing for the camera persuaded him to move back into the woods. Just like a fish it was the picture that got away.
