Misty, foggy, gray but still a pretty drive down much of the same road we traveled to Whittier. We stopped at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center and drove around the park loops, rigs and all. These animals were not really in the wild so watching them did not provide the same excitement, however, I would not venture into the bear enclosure. Seymore the moose proved to be as gentle as a puppy dog and let all that cared to, pet away. Kathleen was in moose heaven and Lois formed a special relationship. All the animals have arrived here because they needed help to survive. They most probably will live out their lives at the center but some could be released back into the wild.

We stayed at Stoney Creek RV just a little north of Seward and if the weather allowed, a picnic on the lawn next to the rushing creek would have been on the menu. The cable tv and wifi did not make us lounge lizards, we ventured out to Exit Glacier and joined a ranger led walk to view the ice. After the tour we walked up to the glacier and let the million year old melting glacier drip over our hands. This glacier advances about eighteen inches a day but melts a little faster so it is receding.  We had planned on another boat tour to view wildlife but the reports of choppy seas, shortened trips, and a few green complexions kept us on solid ground. Kathleen and I had our first taste of the Most Dangerous Catch which was pretty good but we thought no better than our familiar lobster.

The Kenai peninsula is a very beautiful area with so much to offer and Seward an attractive town with nice shops, fishing, boating, restaurants, and my guess when the sun shines, spectacular views. Unfortunately Ted continued to suffer making his stay even drearier but he claimed some improvement so at least that brightened our spirits.
